Height Safety
Accredited Inspection
MSS Safety's trainers have dual roles as accredited trainers & service technicians, which includes the requirement to be Accredited Height Safety Equipment Inspectors. They are all trained and accredited to complete formal, documented inspections, and provide the required, detailed, written reports on the outcomes, in accordance with AS1891.4 and manufacturers instructions for service and inspection.
Why Inspect?
As per AS1891.4-2009 9.1 it is a requirement for all height safety equipment including safety harnesses, ropes, slings, lanyards and so far are required to be inspected before and after use by the operator.
Who Can Inspect?
Pre and post use inspections need to be completed by the operator. Formal inspections must be complete by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector.
Inspection Frequency?
Operator Inspection
All items to be inspected prior to and after use by the operator including
- Harnesses
- Lanyards
- Connectors
- Fall arrest devices
Formal Inspection
Items to be formally (with detailed reports) inspected every six months by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector
- Harnesses
- Lanyards
- Connectors
- Fall arrest devices
- Ropes & Slings
Anchorages
Items to be formally (with detailed reports) inspection by Height Safety Equipment Inspector
- Anchorages - drilled in type or attached to timber frames - 12month inspection
- Anchorages - other types
- Frequency of inspection by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector as recommended by the manufacturer to a maximum of 5-yearly.
- 12-monthly inspection in the absence of such recommendations
Fall Arrest Devices
Items to be formally (with detailed reports) inspection by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector
- Self Retracing Lifelines (SRL)
- Frequency of service by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector as recommended by the manufacturer to a maximum of 5-yearly.
- 12-monthly service in the absence of such recommendations
Horizontal & Vertical Lifelines
Items to be formally (with detailed reports) inspection by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector
- Steel rope or Rail
- Frequency of inspection by a Height Safety Equipment Inspectoras recommended by the manufacturer to a maximum of 5-yearly. 12-monthly inspection in the absence of such recommendation
- fibre rope, webbing
- 6-monthly inspection by a Height Safety Equipment Inspector
Compliance
Each fall arrest item is marked or tagged with the date of inspection and the next due date as required by AS1891.4 9.3.4 (c). Inspection & Test reports are normally completed and available within a few hours of job completion. These vital and detailed compliance reports are produced in accordance with AS1891.4 9.10.
All test and inspection reports are made available via our electronic portal. The portal sends the registered authorised person(s) an email when new reports are ready to view and download. The portal is available 24/7 so you can have unlimited access.
What is included in our reports?
